University Prishtina

The University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” (UP) is the largest public institution of higher learning in Kosovo. A total of 14 academic units belong to the UP. Since its foundation in 1970, the UP has aimed to promote academic and intellectual life as well as political, economic and social change in Kosovo and its society. UP has been leading many processes important for the State of Kosovo and, notwithstanding the challenges and difficulties, the university has withstood the test of time. UP continues to be the leading and most reliable educational institution in Kosovo and beyond in terms of training new professionals.
The Faculty of Philology (more precisely the Department of German Language and Literature) is an associated partner in the project. The Faculty of Philology is an academic unit within the University of Pristina that offers programs in the field of philological sciences, ranging from national sciences (Albanian language, literature and culture) to the teaching and study of languages, literatures and foreign cultures (English, German, French, Italian, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Croatian) to the study of journalism and communication sciences in general.
The Department of German Language and Literature (participating in this project) is dedicated to the initial training of students for the teaching profession at primary and secondary schools (especially with the Master’s program German as a Foreign Language). The department also trains German philologists, translators/interpreters, etc. The German Studies Department has a total of around 400 active students.
