About us
The University of Strasbourg (UNISTRA) embodies an important European educational tradition dating back to 16th century humanism. Today, UNISTRA is one of the largest French universities, educating more than 57,000 students. Research is an important focus for UNISTRA’s international development. Thanks to the worldwide reputation of its research teams, UNISTRA is one of the leading research universities in Europe and is a founding member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU).

The Institute for Educational Sciences (INSPE, Institut national supérieur du professorat et de l’éducation), which is involved in the project, is dedicated to the initial training of students from all disciplines for the teaching profession at primary and secondary schools. Of particular importance is the bilingual German-French Master’s degree program for the teaching profession at bilingual elementary school in Alsace, as well as the integrated German-French degree program (teaching profession primary level) of the German-French University, which leads to a binational final diploma (MA). The two bilingual Master’s courses, which have a total of around 100 students, are led at UNISTRA by Esa Hartmann and Thierry Rohmer, who run the Erasmus+ project “Language Makes Europe” (SMiLE) at UNISTRA.
